Maintenance Technician

SUMMARY

Nylok has been providing innovative fastening solutions for 77 years and in 2017 launched a new processing facility in Mexico. The goal of this new position is to repair/upgrade machines and lead the preventative maintenance program. Nylok is part of Marmon, an $8 billion global industrial organization that is a Berkshire Hathaway company (see also Warren Buffet).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND COMPETENCIES

• Hands-On Mechanical Aptitude – Nylok machines are custom built and therefore require understanding of multiple mechanical systems working together:

• Elevator loaders, Feeder bowls, Induction heaters, Conveyor belts & pulleys, Electric motors, liquid pumps, pneumatic blowers etc.

• Problem Solving – Working with Plant Manager and Production Engineer in resolving machine issues quickly to avoid delivery issues (note: customers do not always use FIFO and therefore frequent schedule changes and 1 day turnaround is common expectation from top customers that needs to be met).

• Machining/Fabrication/Welding/Building – Bridgeport mill, baby lathe, drill press, minor welding (Outside vendors used for large projects).

• Communication - Implementing technical improvement plans as tasked by Plant Manager (and/or Production Engineer) who translates from US team. Provides direction to vendors.

• Preventative Maintenance – lead PM program.

• Safety – lead safety improvement projects and sets leadership example for facility regarding cleanliness and organization.

• Control expenses for repairs to achieve budgeted productivity targets.

• Travel – 90% Apodaca plant, 10% (Supporting offsite production in Santa Catarina).

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

2-10 years of experience in manufacturing industry.

Fluent in English and Spanish languages preferred but not required.

PLC programming experience preferred but not required.

Sr. Staff Accountant - Lincolnwood, IL

SUMMARY

This position will be responsible for supporting the Corporate Finance team so that we can provide timely financial information for internal Nylok and Marmon reporting. This will include month end closing and reporting responsibilities as defined by management as well as ongoing support of the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions. Focus should be given to understanding and helping ensure compliance with the Company’s financial policies and internal accounting controls. Working with management, this position also will be expected to help implement Marmon toolbox principles that are geared towards improving business processes and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

OPERATIONAL ACCOUNTING – Prepare and review for accuracy monthly journal entries and account reconciliations for the Unit’s general ledger accounts as assigned by the Controller. Work to ensure that the Unit meets internal and Corporate reporting deadlines through the proper sequencing of month end and related analytical work.  Support compliance with required internal accounting controls in these areas and propose enhancements as identified. Support with budgeting and ad hoc analysis and data validation will be as needed.

FINANCIAL REPORTING AND ANALYSIS – Prepare for review and submit various monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting requirements as defined by Management and Marmon in compliance with financial policies, procedures, stated deadlines and GAAP. Work with the Finance team to provide and interpret timely financial analysis that helps the business leaders understand their operations, the overall business and drives financial results. This may include the preparation, analysis and communication of related findings in regards to monthly financial statements, key performance indicators and actionable 80/20 data.

ACCOUNTS PAYABLE – As a key contact in the Accounts Payable process, requirements here include the processing of vendor payments, including ACHs, EFTs and manual check runs. Coordination of compliance with the company’s expenditure authorization policy is required. Other duties here include vendor maintenance, review of expense reports for proper support and coordination of payable and payment issues with the remote Office Managers.

ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE - Responsibilities in this area include the daily posting and reconciling of cash receipts, daily review and release of invoicing and customer maintenance. Ongoing communication with the Office Managers will be required on various customer invoicing, credit and receivable issues. Also required is the preparation and communication of the weekly receivable metrics to the team and follow-up on issues as appropriate.

SPECIAL PROJECTS/OTHER – Complete special projects as determined by Finance management team. Although there are generally no restrictions, special projects will focus on simplification initiatives, USa projects and other applications of core Nylok toolbox principles. Understand project requirements and work with the team to complete projects accurately and timely while seeking feedback and guidance as needed.

SUMMARY

This position performs broad professional/functional responsibilities in the areas of employee relations, benefits, compensation, staffing and other human resource functions, ensuring consistency in the administration of HR policies and practices. Provides guidance and support for management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Processes bi-weekly payroll for all employees.  Works with Office Managers with payroll processing for hourly employees at all plants.  Consults with Office Managers with any payroll questions/concerns.

• Completes all necessary reporting for month-end.

• Identifies legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance. Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.

• Recruits, interviews and provides guidance to managers to select candidates to fill open positions.

• Executes employment offer and prepares necessary paperwork.

• Creates updates and maintains job descriptions for all positions within the organization.

• Reviews handbook annually to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.

• Responds to inquiries regarding policies and procedures.

• Maintains all benefits programs such as life, health, dental, vision, LTD, STD, FSA and Dependent Care accounts and 401(K) plans.  Approves invoices for payment.

• Provides employees and Office Managers with all necessary paperwork in accordance to the Federal Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), as well as, complies with State laws regarding leaves of absence.  Tracks these leaves and maintains records.

• Maintains reports for workers’ compensation insurance carrier and acts as the main contact when investigating claims.  Responsible for all reporting, as required by parent company.

• Prepares employee separation notices and related documentation, and conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations; as necessary.

• Represents organization at human resources related hearings and investigations, such as unemployment hearings.

• Files EEO-1 report annually; maintains other records, reports, and logs to conform to EEO regulations.

• Maintains Human Resource Information System records using ADP WFN.

• Oversees Safety Program & Policies and consults with General Manager at each facility to ensure compliance with these programs.  Prepares monthly safety report.

• Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.

• Administers talent review program to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity within organization.

• Advises management in appropriate resolution of employee relations issues.  Participates in the investigation of complaints filed via the Berkshire Hathaway complaint hotline.

• Visits plants as needed for human resources related issues; at least once annually.

• Partner with Office Managers at all locations on human resources functions.

• Other duties may be assigned.
